Article Marketing is a simple and proven method where you write an article about a product or service you are providing and which you distribute to article directories, forums, hubs and newsletter publishers. It is an inexpensive way to market your business and probably one of the cheapest ways to make money online.
How you make money from Article Marketing is by writing several articles that are keyword optimized (if you're not sure about what this is, don't worry, I will discuss it in more detail in another lesson) for tapped and untapped niche markets, placing url links to your business in the resource box. It is from these links that lead to your product, service or affiliate program that will make money.
It may be surprising to some of you but many netpreneurs actually make a full time living from writing and publishing articles. After all it's not rocket science, anyone can write an article, but only the few who follow a particular process actually make money!
How do you start a Money Making Article Writing Business?
With a Little Research
So you are thinking about writing articles that will generate a profit? I know it may be plainly obvious to you but before your start creating an article you need to have something to write about. There's no point or profit in putting an article together just because you like a particular topic and hope that other will like it too; no. it has to be about something people want or need to read. It therefore follows that if you want to make money from writing articles you have to carry out some form of research.
When searching for information most people will refer to the search engines to find exactly what they are looking for and this is where your first research project should start.
Let's say you are going to write an article about 'weight loss', a keyword phrase and market in which people are always searching for information that will help them lose weight.
However, 'weight loss' is a very popular keyword phrase and is searched for on approximately 84.8 million sites that are ranked by Google. I mention this because one way that you will use your articles to make money is by driving visitors to your web pages. But if your article is not on the first couple of pages of the search engine results, it is unlikely to be seen if you're competing against over 84 million other websites.
To remedy this and get a decent number of visitors to your website you will have to research further and find other keyword phrases that people are using to search 'weight loss', as well as ensuring that the competition is not quite so hot. How you do this is a relatively easy process.
I will continue to use 'weight loss' as an example; the first thing that you should do is search on this phrase using the free Word Tracker keyword research tool. This will show you the top 100 such terms that people use when they are trying to find weight loss related information.
When I did this search there were 27,226 searches every day for terms or phrases that are related to weight loss. This is a good search volume figure with 'weight loss' itself being searched 4,982 times every day. However with these figures it is still going to be difficult to get noticed.
Therefore you need to search through all of the terms that are highlighted on the Word Tracker page to find those where there are reasonable numbers of people searching. However, you also want terms that have considerably less competition as indicated by the number of sites listed by Google.
As a general indication, I would usually look for terms or phrases that Word Tracker tells me are searched for at least 30 times a day which has less than 30000 competing sites listed by Google. One point you must remember when searching is to use the exact phrase match (by enclosing the search term in quotation marks - "."), using this method will give a more true search figure. I found the phrase "free weight loss programs" is searched for 235 times a day, so the next thing to check is how many sites are competing for that particular phrase using Google: The figure returned was 732, which is an encouraging result; it's a good number of searches but with little competition. This is the kind of key phrase you need to write articles around.
Therefore if you want to make money from the weight loss market, it is terms like "free weight loss programs" you should use as a primary key phrase in your article.
Whatever market you decide to write articles on simply follow the research guidelines I detailed above and always delve down deeper on the initial keyword phrase until you find a phrase that receives a good number of searches per day but that has little competition.
