How to Make Money With Land

If you would like to make money buying and selling land, now is a great time to do so. A lot of people have lost their jobs recently due to the strain on the economy and are willing to sell their land for very inexpensive prices. They are willing to unload their property so that they can make a fast buck and potentially avoid losing their home to foreclosure.

Now's a great time to buy land because the real estate market is really in a slump. This is bad for sellers but great for buyers. It's important to keep a couple of things in mind when purchasing land in this type of market. The first is that you have all the negotiating power as the buyer. What ever you do, don't fall in love with a particular property if the prices isn't right. There are plenty of properties on the market that you can pick up for the right price. If the price isn't right for a particular lot simply move onto the next.

How do you know if the price is right? If you cannot purchase the property for less than fair market value, move on to another property. The reason for this is that we are in a buyer's market and there are many more sellers than there are buyers. This gives the buyer all of the leverage since they can easily move on to another investment property if they're not able to get the right price.

Don't be ashamed to offer much less than their asking price. There are two reasons for this. The first is that they may accept your offer and you will have purchased the property for an unbelievable bargain. The second reason is that if they counter offer it still gives you some room to negotiate and still purchase the property below fair market value.
