By the time you finish reading this, you will clearly understand how to lower triglycerides as well as the best ways to maintain healthy cholesterol readings.
Simply stated, triglycerides are the form that fats take as they travel through the bloodstream. Basically, the fats we eat are absorbed into the bloodstream and transported throughout the body as triglycerides to be stored as fat until it is required for energy.
However, due to the typical diet that so many of us consume, we often learn from our doctors that our triglyceride levels are too high. I remember a phone call from my doctor's nurse with a very urgent tone in her voice. She told me that my triglycerides were at 750 and that that was higher than she had ever seen before.
As it turned out, others in her office had seen them that high, but still this was the phone call that made me face the issue of having to reduce my cholesterol and triglycerides. Earlier, my doctor had told me that the cholesterol levels as high as mine were, I had a 10% chance of having a heart attack within the next 10 years.
As I researched natural ways of lowering triglycerides, I learned that the solution to the problem is relatively simple for most individuals. You see, foods that are high in saturated fats such as fatty cuts of beef and pork can cause a sudden increase in triglycerides.
As much as I enjoyed these types of foods, it was time to change my eating habits. The first thing I did was to cut out all fatty cuts of meat from my diet and consumed beef and pork in moderation. I actually found that, when properly seasoned, I enjoy ground turkey more than ground beef because of the fact that it is not nearly as greasy.
However, I also learned that if I was serious about lowering cholesterol and triglyceride levels for the long-term, I would have to do more than just reduce the amount of fat I consumed. It required making cholesterol lowering foods such as vegetables, nuts and whole grains a regular part of my diet in order for my cholesterol readings to come down to where they should be.
Yes, learning how to lower triglycerides is not difficult. As a matter of fact, most individuals can begin lowering triglycerides relatively quickly by making these simple changes in their diet. A consistent approach to natural cholesterol reduction has actually been shown to be more effective than cholesterol medication many times.
