How to Lose Weight With Healthy Eating

Expert Author Christopher R. Edwards

There is no shortcut to losing weight. The only simple rule is that you have to burn more calories than you consume.

Crash diets are a fad that many people follow, but they are detrimental to one's health. Don't just aim to fit into your old jeans within two weeks. Plan for a healthier, fitter body and adapt to the changes gradually.

For healthy weight loss, you must plan your meals carefully. Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. After a gap of 10-12 hours, your body needs an energy boost in the morning, but that doesn't mean you should stuff yourself. Remember- the mantra is to have 4-5 small meals throughout the day.

Try to avoid foods made from refined flour. Cakes and cookies have more calories because they are also very sweet. Switch from white bread to brown or whole grain bread.

Fruit juice, though good for health, still has a large amount of sugar. Instead, opt for a bowl of chopped fruits. Fruits basically consist of fiber and water, and the former is good for our body as it helps flush out various toxins.

Milk and cottage cheese have a lot of fat content. Opt for skimmed milk and tofu, which is made from soy milk and is far healthier.

Develop a habit of having a soup and salad before every meal. These are healthy snacks and make you feel satiated. In this way, you will have fewer/smaller meal portions.

Try to incorporate as many vegetables as you can in your fitness diet plan. You can have them as your pizza toppings, or you can incorporate pureed vegetables in your pasta sauce.

You have to be innovative in planning a low fat diet plan. Stop having alcohol and soft drinks- they are full of sugar and simply pile on the calories. Try to have fresh fruit juices and smoothies instead.

If your family follows a healthy diet, then your kids will automatically do the same. Keep junk food as an occasional treat. Childhood obesity is on the rise because we succumb to our children's demands. It is very convenient for us to simply order a pizza or take the family out for burger and fries, but convenience does not equal good health.

We should have proper meals because our body needs energy to function properly. Energy is the fuel that enables our vital systems to function normally. If we starve our body of that fuel, it will look for alternative sources to get energy- and one of those sources is muscle and water content.

Without the adequate supply of carbohydrates and proteins, our body starts converting our muscle protein into energy. This energy is required to feed our nervous system, brain, and red blood cells. Consequently, this leads to the loss of muscle tissue. Our muscles actually burn fat, so a loss of muscles means that we are burning less fat. Therefore, this is a vicious circle that we need to break free from.

Many of us eat less to lose weight, but this is the very reason why we are unable to lose weight. So the trick to losing weight is to eat healthy. Healthy eating ensures that we lose weight in the correct manner without harming our body.
