When a baby suddenly starts crying, communication is what they are really crying for. Yes when this delightful little thing suddenly gushes a flood of tears is really just wanting your undivided attention.
Babies cry the most in during the first three months of their lives, while the amount of crying tends to increase steadily, the time period in which they are crying can be from an hour to almost the entire day. This is considered quite normal.
While some people think that babies cry more in the hours of the afternoon due to the mother's anxiousness or father's stress level after work, however the most commonly accepted assumption is that new born babies have an uncanny automatic screening ability that they can use to shut off all noise the would otherwise stimulate a response from them, so as to get an adequate amount of rest. The filter weakens over time and you will usually find that by the age of approximately six weeks it is gone completely.
There can be many reasons why a new born baby is crying, as a parent, determining why is a knack you must get used to. Here are a few things your baby may be trying to make you understand through crying.
Hunger is one of the most obvious reasons, attention-hungry babies crave to let you know about their grumbling tummys, especially during the early months. This pattern is marked a persistent, demanding howling and tends to be almost rhythmical.
Boredom. Yes babies love to be stimulated (as do some people in general) babies are wired like thiis and crying is a baby's way of telling you. "Amuse me NOW!"
There are three things that babies constantly crave. Food, attention and a good deal of stimulation. When it's not forthcoming you get a waaaaahhhhh! A useful trick is to pick up the baby and play with him (surprise), while some would say too much stimulation is spoiling the baby, stimulation is one of the important needs of an infant and providing some will not hurt while in his growing age.
The boredom cry is also quite rhythmical with a few sobs and moans thrown in for good measure.
Discomfort. Pain can be another cause of your baby's crying. After all, who likes pain? Babies are small, vulnerable beings that need attention when hurt or injured. The cry can be a bit more persistent and louder than it otherwise would be and can even contain screams and shrieking. This is the most worrisome crying from a new born baby and you should attend to them immediately when you hear it.
Disturbance is another thing that will cause your baby to howl, if they get a rude shock by something especially if its just before they're about to sleep or already asleep and are surprised by some event, noise or movement.
