How to Jump Higher - 4 Fast Steps to a Jaw-Dropping Vertical Leap

Have you ever watched a game of basketball and been amazed by a dunk. The athleticism and power of the event is one of the greatest in professional sports and is a joy to watch.

Many people ask how to jump higher whether it is for basketball or volleyball, as when they first attempt it they seem so far off their goal of a fantastic dunk or volleyball spike. It is actually not as difficult as you may imagine regardless of your height, but if you do not train right then it will be impossible.

Firstly you will need powerful legs to increase your vertical jump so this is an area you will have to train in. You can build up some strength following a weight training program which will show you how to build muscles correctly.

Secondly, you should do plyometric exercises. An example of this is where you would jump up and then as your feet touch the floor you would let your muscles relax for a brief moment and then powerfully push yourself up into another leap. The explosive movement as you leap into the air works on your slow twitch muscles and gives you that strong leaping ability.

Thirdly, you should get hold of some quality footwear. You will need to be supported in order to jump safely so getting some good basketball shoes is a must.

Finally, you will need to develop a strong focus. This is what pushes professional players to the limit and is something you need to develop. Learn to visualize the movement and motion before you have completed it and this will help you to complete it successfully.
