How to Influence Your Husband to Talk
Print This Article Ezine Publisher Send To Friends Add To Favorites Post A Comment Suggest Topic Report Author

Women usually find it relatively easy to share what they feel with their partners. Unfortunately, the case is not usually the same with men. It can be very frustrating when your husband does not want to talk with you about his feelings. You are likely to be disappointed if you have to make guesses nearly all the time since your husband is closed up. Unfortunately, this usually results in a vicious cycle. You may approach the man with what you think is right only for him to shut his mouth even more tightly.

When there is such a communication breakdown in your marriage, it will be very difficult to sustain the relationship. However, this does not mean that you can not take charge of the situation and influence your husband to talk with you about what's going on within him. Here are some helpful steps that will help you to change the present state of your relationship.

Try to find out the root cause of your husband's silence

You need to be very open with yourself and determine whether you have played any part in making your husband shut up. Men can easily retreat to their cocoons depending on how they are treated.

The problem could arise from your emotional outbursts in the past when you were discussing some pertinent issues. Perhaps your husband had been open with you and said exactly how he felt only for you to become an emotional mess. He won't find it easy to be open another time.

Check your reaction

While your husband may be very ready to share his feelings with you, he may decide to keep to himself because of the way you usually react. Another common problem apart from being emotional is to become overly defensive.

You should therefore determine how you tend to react and make any necessary corrections.

Let your actions speak for themselves

You will hardly be successful if you tell your husband that you have changed and won't react in the same way as before. Instead, you should let your actions show him that you have really changed.

Start by holding your peace in the simple issues you discuss. This will give you the necessary discipline to stay calm even when you discuss major things. At the same time, your husband will begin to notice that you have changed; hence he will be free to discuss the more serious issues openly.

Let your husband realize that you are not in some kind of tag of war but are working together. In order to be really successful, you should ensure that you do this consistently. It is in this way that you will be able to win your husband's trust. Your reaction, both in terms of what you say and do, will help you to influence your husband to talk with you.

If your husband doesn't talk to you, what should you do? There are a number of things you can do to save your marriage NOW. Get more expert advice on what you can do at this website: Make Your Husband Happy
