How to Influence People Into Buying Your Products and Affiliate Offers

Expert Author David Abel

The influence of email marketing

There are secrets to the reasons people buy products from certain people and not from others, it's the power to influence.

Take email marketing for example, some people will avoid this type of marketing like the plague simply because of the social interaction that you need to make. They don't believe that people will want to listen to what they have to say and why would people trust in them?

The simple fact is that the real secret of email marketing is to build an interactive relationship with your list, and I don't mean that you should be taking thousands of emails from people asking you all sorts of sundry questions. No, you really need to sit down and figure out what your target niche wants to get from you, so therefore you need to research and know exactly your market and what they want.

You really do need to get a bond going between you and your subscriber and not just get their email address off them and dive into the first response to sell them something! That kind of thing will get people hitting the 'unsubscribe me' link faster than a Cheshire cats smile going when a dog bites their bum!

No, do not include blatant sales pitches in your emails or 'newsletter', try to adhere and focus on the 4 real main "triggers" for people to trust what you say enough to buy from you.

"Tell a Story, Ask Opinions, Provide Social Proof and Use Cutting Edge"

One of the best methods of selling to someone without actively appearing to 'sell' to someone is to tell a story. In your story you will need to build a character of yourself that puts you exactly where your subscribers are now, telling them you were able to get that better golf swing, get that right guitar chord or that you finally got rid of the day job.

You need to know your market and subscribers 'wants' and feed them a story as you have 'been there too' and want to show them how your life was turned and theirs can too.

Give them the feeling that you are one of them and let them empathize with you by telling them how it once was for you, and doing XYZ improved your life.

Story telling is truly one of the oldest but still is the best method to sell something and is so powerful!

Just think, there is so much distraction around us nowadays that to get through to someone is a huge uphill task just to get someone's attention let alone keep it for your email or 'newsletter' that they could just hit 'delete' and never have to be bothered with!

Story telling really is the 'backdoor' to people's minds, into engaging their attention and rendering distraction obsolete. You simply have to do this by engaging their interest with a little 'tale' which sparks their interest, and believe me, if you do that one thing then you will dramatically increase the percentage of your emails or 'newsletters' that are actually opened.

The consequence of course is that if you engage their interest, you will also be able to gain their trust, which will eventually increase the 'click-through' amounts you will get for your email offers.

Think about it, make yourself stand out from the hundreds of emails a 'prospector' will get when they sign up to programs promising to make them a millionaire.

How do you make yourself stand out?

Tell stories about how you used to be where they are now... etc. make yourself credible and believable and you will be trusted.

"Ultimately this can result in you making a ton of money and also making your subscribers happy too! Win win!"

Ok, here's the run down of a successful 'newsletter'..

You want to start with the "Thank you for subscribing" of course and you need to isolate a heading that indicates that they are:

"On an exclusive newsletter from you giving them the insider tips"

to the chosen niche...

Then you need to outline what the newsletter is about and how it will be a benefit to them and give them exactly what they want.

Then a little aside, a story of how you used to be like them, maybe an embarrassing story of how bad you were at something to de with your niche and how you managed to find a better way by doing XYZ or buying this product....therefore leading on to an affiliate offer.

Try to use their language too, such as in a golf 'ezine' where you can say that you used to suck at driving, you used to hook or slice your shots down the fairway...and now you know the secret, you don't!

Know what your market wants and provide for it.

Describe how the link is to something that has helped you to get where you are now and seems to have helped a lot of your members too, and sign off by saying that you hope it works as well for them as it has for you.

Always give them a descriptive end to your email by saying something like...

" Regards,

David

...The little guy fighting with the big sharks"

..Give them a feeling that you are likeable, human and that they are part of your new community.

At the bottom of your email too should be the disclosure that you may be compensated if they buy the product that you have promoted.

But Also:

"I will only recommend products that I feel will truly be beneficial to you and offer true value. This is my promise to you today and I wish to be transparent in every way"

Make Them Feel that their Opinions count

Ask their opinions too, don't be afraid to ask them to give an opinion on what they want from you and let them 'connect' with you and feel part of your community. This can be done with simple surveys, there are free survey programs out there on the web, and you should use leading questions... like

"Do you think it would improve your life to not have to go to work everyday and to spend more time with your family?"

The obvious answer is "yes!" and then you could actually show them that you know how they can achieve that goal...

You could even do a cunning trick with the poll and ask all the leading questions and letting them see the end results of the responses you have been collecting...simply by having a link to the poll results directly after they have hit 'submit' and that's where Social Proof comes into the equation....

If they see the results that everyone has submitted and they are all in agreement as to what they want and what they can have then they will feel vilified and want to be one of the first to get that benefit you provide.

Think about social proof like someone knowing something that you don't and you want in on the action... think about going to a theme park, which ride do you want to go on? The one with the longest queue! It must be good if everyone wants to go on it! Or there are 2 nightclubs and one has a huge queue and the other none, which one would you want to go into? Exactly the one where everyone seems to know something that you don't and prefer the 'best' club!

People will always believe that the majority actually know what's best and will follow the crowd!

Social Proof is very powerful...

If you are seen to be an 'authority' figure in your respective niche and ask opinions of people then that is a very powerful thing, it's like being asked by Eric Clapton if you think his guitar playing was good that day! You will be making your readers feel a part of your community.

Using Cutting Edge Will Work...

For example using video, still up there as cutting edge for now I think.

A lot of people will avoid using video as they are not in the know as far as how to use it! It can be quite simple really, something as easy as putting a video from YouTube.com on a landing page and linking to something that will give them what they need... Could be a video about someone playing the guitar and the link could be to a product that will enable them to play guitar like a pro! Or it could be any number of things that people want to be able to do.

You just need to know your niches wants and needs then provide the solution...

Using these kinds of offers and pages can lead to people's respect of what you are doing and what you can provide for them and ultimately make you stand out from the crowd.

..Now you must look at the advertising revenues being attained on the mobile advertising market! Phew!..But that's next time.

Email marketing can be a very rewarding way to have a business on the internet and if done correct will earn you big-time money online! I hope I have given you something to think upon and ultimately act upon in your business.
