How to Increase Metabolism - With Food

While the best way to increase your metabolism is through physical exertion which will throw your body into a state of metabolic shock and cause you to burn calories for hours and even days after the exercise is over, there are other ways too.

Foods like cayenne pepper and green tea have been shown to increase your metabolism so that you are burning calories at a higher rate after you eat them. However, you have to consume them on a regular basis for the effect to be consistent. Cayenne pepper actually comes in a capsule form and can be purchased at a health foods store for those of you who don't want to swallow it raw. Green tea needs to be consumed on a daily basis throughout the day as well.

There are also foods like strawberries, blueberries, asparagus, mango, orange, tomato, spinach, garlic, carrots and others which actually require more calories than they have to burn. So, this is another way to boost your metabolism with food.

Yet another way is to eat smaller portioned meals though out the day. Eating 4 - 6 small meals as opposed to 3 larger meals will cause your body to expend energy digesting these meals more frequently. Consequently, the effect is that the meal "pays for itself" calorically.

These are all ways to increase your metabolism with food. But, to really turn your body into a fat burning furnace you must do compound weight lifting exercises that work multiple muscle groups at the same time.
