The grading system is almost exclusive to teas from Africa, India and Sri Lanka, but some Chinese teas will be graded too. Typically whole leave teas are more expensive but teas with small leaves will give a more favourable tea in general.
Grading of Green and Oolong teas will be different, where the grading is based on the quality and overall taste of the tea. The price you pay for an Oolong or green tea will depend on the location of the leaves, type of tea and how the tea was plucked or harvested. The grading system for green teas will depend on the county it comes from, as Japan will grade according to location, style and quality where as China will base on leaf age, style and shape. Even in India green tea is based on leave styles such as Fanning and Soumee etc.
