You shouldn't try to sell your prospects on your product. They should examine the information that you have available to you. Now if your product/opportunity is not interesting or attractive to them, you're done. You either don't have a very interesting product/service or your prospect is simply not interested, it happens.
Your job is to interview your prospect, qualify them and make sure they are somebody that you want to work with. If they are for any reason, someone you don't want to work with, don't work with them. This is your business. Don't get connected to someone that you're going to dread working with or someone that will take too much of your time.
If this person is interested in you and your opportunity and they are someone that you want to work with, then consider if they are a good fit in your team. If they are a good fit for your team then take the next step. Expose them to the information that they need to make a decision that is right for them. It's not up to us to convince people to do anything. It is a bad idea to try to "sell" people on an opportunity. If you have to motivate them to make a decision, then make the decision for them. This could be as simple as "Joe, I know you're having a tough time making a decision. Why don't you look the information over on the websites I've given you and get back to me if your interested.
I want people to convince me that they are the right person and they are worth my time. Instead of looking at a recruit and saying wow, I want this person in my business. I want them to convince me of why I should take them into my business.
When I first interact with a prospect I interview them. I'm developing a relationship with him/her. I ask them questions and interact with them. I do not pitch people. The majority of people are not going to be right for our business. They might be good for the product/service, which is good. We are really looking for the 3% of folks that have a strong work ethic, know where they want to be (they may not be there yet but they know where they are headed). We're looking for go getters, driven, motivated people. If you do the math, that means that 97% of the people we talk to are not what were looking at. If people really want your product or really want to do your business...they'll find a way to get the money.
When I'm interviewing them, I'm asking them questions about why they are looking for a business. It's a good question to ask what kind of income they are looking for. They I might ask them, "Fred, can you see yourself making the kind of money. If they can't see themselves making that kind of money then it's probably not going to happen. Then I'll ask Fred...other than the money Fred, what else are you looking for out of a business like this? What is the money going going to do for you.
You need to be more concerned about sponsoring the right people. This shows leadership. You are not interested in dragging them into the company, paying their way. Don't show an attitude of desperation. You can only have this attitude if you have a large amount of leads.
To sponsor a new rep if you haven't sponsored anyone before, get on the phone with you up line. This gives the upline credibility.
