Most individuals at some point or another in their lives have gone through a painful break up.

Whether it was one person who made the decision or it was a mutual agreement, sometimes after the breakup, human nature sometimes tells us that we may want to get an ex back.

This is where these strategies come into play. For you and your significant other, who is now an ex, to see you in a positive light and want you back, there are several things that need to be done, by you and by them.

1. Think of the reason or reasons why you broke up. If you want to know "how to get my ex back" this is the first issue you will have to address. Do not dwell on the past because of course it cannot be changed.

But do look at what happened in your relationship with them, so that you can understand what the problem was and learn from the mistakes, so that they will not happen in the future.

2. Do not attempt to confront your ex and make them jealous. This is a very common mistake and in the long run, will only drive the relationship between your ex and yourself further apart, rather than back together. Instead do this.

3. Contact them one time, or leave a message on their machine and tell them that you realize what happened, and that you are sorry, (whether you were the one to break up or not you still should do this). Tell them that the best times you had were that you were with them and that that is all you wanted them to know.

4. Take a week off, and be patient. Patience is a virtue in the love game, and if you give them a chance to miss you, there is more of a chance that they will feel what you meant to them and want you back. After this is when you will contact them and begin to communicate that you want to get back together.
