How to Get Long Drivers With a 460cc Golf Driver
Print This Article Ezine Publisher Send To Friends Add To Favorites Post A Comment Suggest Topic Report Author

A 460cc sized golf driver is the largest sized club that you can use under the laws of golf. You cannot use a club larger than this size legally if you are to play in professional or semi-professional competitions. The reason for the popularity of a 460cc golf driver is that it has a larger sweet spot. It is essentially very difficult to miss the ball with this sized golf club.

The key to a long driver is a high launch and a ball that leaves the club with a low spin rate. Here are four tips to help you achieve the optimal condition for a long tee off.

Tip 1: Place the ball higher on the tee

You should tee the ball high when using a 460cc driver. This means you will need to buy a much higher tee, at least 3 inches high. The higher tee will ensure a higher launch as the club comes underneath the ball and lifts it high.

Tip 2: Place the ball in front of you

You want to strike the ball as you swing upwards. This will increase the launch height and decrease the rate at which the ball is spinning. For a right-handed golfer, tee the ball towards your left foot. However, the exact position will differ from person to person and you will need try various positions on the driving range until you find the best place for the ideal launch.

Tip 3: Set the ball up so it strike the center of the face

Striking the ball dead middle will ensure that it will go long and straight. However, most players will strike the ball on the heal side of the club face. This is because they line the ball up with the club face with the club on the ground but the ball is 3 inches higher up on the tee. You should test to see if the teed ball will strike the center of the club before you swing. If it isn't, step back a few inches and try again.
