How to Fix Slow Download Speeds on Your PC

In an age of increasingly fast broadband, slow download speeds are not only annoying, but can also prevent you from being able to complete your work, play your games or even download music. This problem is normally associated with poor Internet connection speeds, but the fact is that there are a simple set of issues which often cause download speeds to run slow on Windows PCs. This tutorial is going to show you exactly how to speed them up and make your downloads run extremely fast again.

The first thing to do to speed up your downloads is to check the speed of your Internet connection. It's often the case the ISP's (Internet Service Providers) will not send adequate connection levels to your premises, slowing down your Internet. To ensure your Internet is fine, you should click onto Google and then search for "broadbrand speed test". Click the first link you find, and you should see a website that will test your connection speed. You should do this and if it's slower than what you're paying for, you should talk to your ISP.

After you've tested your Internet connection, you should then look at how many programs you have running at once on your PC. It's often the case that people will run as many as 10 different applications on their system at once, and if more than one of those programs needs to use the Internet, it's going to slow it down for the other programs you have. The best thing to do is to close down any other application apart from the one that you have running currently. This will allow you to see if this was causing your download speeds to slow down.

You should also look to use a 'registry cleaner' to fix the slow downloads on your system. This is a tool which will clean through the "registry" database of your PC, and fix the various errors that are inside it. The registry database is like a big library of information for Windows, allowing your computer to recall such information as your desktop wallpaper, latest emails and even your Internet bookmarks.

The registry is used constantly by all your applications, to help them run as smoothly and effectively as possible - and is being used 100's of times a day on your system. Unfortunately, the registry is one of the biggest reasons why Windows computers often have slow downloads - because downloading a file / movie / data requires the use of 100's of registry settings from your system. If any of those settings are damaged, then you need to be able to fix them to help your PC run smoother & faster. To do this, it's recommended you use a 'registry cleaner' application, which will scan through the registry of your PC and fix any of the errors that are inside. Cleaning the registry is probably going to do the most good for your PC & speed up your downloads the most.
