One of the biggest problems people have is finding sites in their markets who will give them space on their site for banner advertising. In this article I want to show you exactly what you need to do to find the right sites & which ones you need to stay away from.

Secret #1:

Don't just buy banner advertising on a site because they get a lot of traffic and they can have your ad up by noon! A lot of people will just buy space on the first site they see and think they are doing the right thing.

Here is what you need to understand - the high traffic sites will charge you a premium for space and often put you into a rotation so your ad is only shown for a percentage of the views to that page.

Secret #2:

What you need to do is go into your market and start finding sites that are good and make sense for your product but are not the biggest sites in your market. Go after the second level sites that make more sense in terms of advertising dollars.

You want to find sites that get good traffic and have good rates. That is the combination. Also, you have to realize that a lot of the smaller sites get more qualified visitors as well. So when you get your ad on a super targeted site in your market, your volume will go down but your quality will probably go up.

So make sure you realize that better quality sites with less traffic are better then higher traffic sites that charge a premium.
