Have you ever wondered how people got started on eBay, or how tons of people have sold items from there home on eBay, and made some great money. If so this article is for you!
Getting started
We will assume that you already have both an eBay, and PayPal Account. You need both since almost every member of eBay pays with PayPal. So having both of the accounts is critical to your success!
Finding items around your house to sell on eBay:
To find potential items to sell around the house start assessing, what you actually have that could potentially be sold. Qualifying an item to sell requires an open mind, and creativity. Anything that you have around the house that can be looked at, worn, used to make, or create something, electronic device, or simply a devices accessory. Can be sold on eBay.
These items could be a nice vase that you like, but you have left it in the closet for the last 4 years cause it just didn't fit your scene, articles of clothing that don't fit, or out of style, an old kitchen aid product that works great, but recently you have found no use for it, a phone that goes out of commission, and you have chargers around the house that you were going to throw away. Now these ideas may be some what crazy, but the truth is I have sold an items almost exactly like those, for over $10 a piece or more, and if you put those together thats over $40, and even more importantly I was able to get well more then 4 positive feedback on them. This process will also teach you critical knowledge about selling on eBay, and dealing with customers who buy used items.
Listing the Used item
I am going to talk about an item I listed, and sold on eBay recently, to teach you how to correctly list a used item on eBay. The item was a pair of airsoft guns that I had owned for a few months. They were beginning to just take up space so I decided to sell them on eBay.
1st step find out how much I could sell them for. I simply went unto eBay and looked at what other sellers were asking for items similar to mine. I also took into account that I had not paid very much for them so I only asked 39.99 for the pair.
2nd step after deciding the price it was simply a matter of listing the item. To do this you simply go to eBay login to your account, then click the sell button at the top of eBay's screen and begin the process.
The 1st thing they will ask you is to decide on a category for your item. Make sure to choose the most relevant category as this is the best way to get the most traffic for your item. it will also ask you if you would like to add a second category, I usually never do this unless the item is a high priced item with a lot of profit capabilities.
The next page will ask you for the title, pictures, description, shipping, and ext. Fill out these fields to the best of your knowledge paying particular attention to the description, below I have an example of what the description elements should look like.
Name the product
Describe its features and benefits, if it is a used item don't tell them why you are selling but rather what kind of condition it is in.
Specs - Use this if the item has a specs chart an example of different specs is given below
Size dimensions
different types of operations
age
power
ext
Shipping Details - This is to provide your customers with information regarding how you will ship it, and the price. For example ( We ship with ups Ground flat rate of $X).
Return Policy - If you are going to have a return policy put that here.
After that just double check to make sure everything is correct and that you have all the required fields filled out. The next screen will simply verify your information and they will provide you with a preview for you listing. Make sure to look over this preview carefully to fix any mistakes that you might have missed.
After that you can list the item. Make sure to watch it carefully and to answer any questions that a potential customer has.
