Almost all projects or goals of any size or importance require several steps during a period of time to complete. Projects which are worthy of your time and dedication, require sticking with it through numerous phases over various time periods. That is also true about determining how to fill your networking events with attendees. Choosing to do this requires strategizing and isn't any different from other detailed projects. Here's how to get it done in 5 simple steps.
Step 1. Create a professional looking e-mail describing all of the benefits of attending your event. This can be really crucial since you want a more than satisfactory turnout. If you don't make this e-mail reasonably impressive and list all of the good points, you may be very well giving people a reason not to show up. If you don't know how to craft an HTML e-mail, it's very easy to find a designer online, simply by using Google.
Step 2. Hire a guest speaker to talk briefly at your event.
This is essentially a crucial part of the process that will warrant close attention. The reason why, is that you can consider it like booking a headline act if you were a concert promoter. However, in this case, you don't have to get a top-of-the-line personality. We are talking about businesspeople, so contacting an expert in a certain area of interest to your audience, will suffice as a stronger draw.
Step 3. Inform every professional person you know about your upcoming networking event. If you have attendance worries, you can offer them special incentives or perks as one of your special guests. What we are doing here is to guarantee that a certain number of people arrive. Furthermore, it is to contribute to the buzz regarding your event.
Step 4. Send out those professional looking e-mails and advertise in a local popular business publication. To elaborate on that a bit, if you have a modest size list, you can still get a good return. Plus, remember that you can always grow your list.
There are always local business publications and business websites in which your target (business people) congregate. It's usually very affordable to run an ad that can reach these people and inform about your networking function.
Step 5. Reminders, Tell a Friend, and Sponsorships
Send out several reminder e-mails as you get closer to the event. As you are sending e-mails out to your list, don't forget to add the text, "Tell a friend" or "Bring a friend". Believe it or not, this will encourage people to do just that and if people are showing up with a friend or two, it fills is your event all the better.
If you can find and sponsor a popular charity with the proceeds of your event, you can leverage this to get many people to show up. People love to help and know that they are doing something for good cause.
In the end, when you have stuck with the above mentioned tips completely, you will have succeeded and can now sit back and enjoy the rewards of that success. Applaud yourself and be very satisfied with your progress. You set yourself a goal and here you have attained it! You "came and conquered"!
For those who decided not to keep to the tips above, well....chances to fill your networking event may be very minimal. Best of luck, regardless.
