How to Figure Out Your Vision

Expert Author Sean R Mize

A lot of people are sinking their teeth into different endeavors without clear goals in mind. They just dive in without knowing where they want to go. That's why, it's not surprising to see so many individual fail. Well, how can you expect somebody to succeed when he doesn't even know what he wants to achieve in the first place?

This is the reason why it's crucial that you know your vision or where you want to go when building your business or when managing organizations. Although your visions will not exactly show you how to get there, they can definitely guide you to work very hard to realize your goals in as little time as possible.

The question here is, how do you figure out your vision?

Well, the answer is simple; think and dream!

Where do you want to see your company or your organizations in the next 3 years? What do you want to achieve in the next 5-10 years? Perhaps, you would want to triple the number of your customer base, create more groundbreaking products, be considered as one of the industry leaders, and branch out to create more businesses.

Although you're free to dream just about anything, it's important that you make your visions realistic and achievable. Consider the current status of your company, the potential of your work force, and the salability of your products and services. Before you write your vision statement, ensure that your company or organization have what it takes to realize them.

Here's a simple guide on how to figure out and write your vision for your company or organization:

1. First, dare to dream. As I said a while ago, you're free to dream just about anything. Dreaming big will definitely push you and your teammates to work really hard. Just ensure that you dream of something that you can possibly realize in the near future. It's important that you don't feel pressured each time you go to work just because you're trying to achieve something that is way beyond your reach.

2. Write them. Put your vision into writing and place them where you'll see them every single day so you'll be reminded where you would want to see yourself or your company in the next couple of years. Doing this will also help you make decision much easier. When you find yourself in a crossroad, you can simply ask: if I go this way, will this help me realize my vision?

3. Commit to your vision. Remind yourself and your teammates about the things that you would like to achieve as often as possible. Then, create action plans on how you can achieve them ASAP. I can guarantee you that the road to success will be at best bumpy but it's important that you're committed in getting to where you would like to be. This will require patience, determination, hard work, and consistency. If you and your teammates possess these, there's no doubt in my mind that you're company will thrive in no time.
