When I was growing up the answer was really simple. When it came to what to do with your misbehaving child you simply spanked them. If I misbehaved I got a spanking (not a beating). Now days many would say that my parents were bad because they spanked me. I would not say that, I think they were the best parents.
Now days if you spank a child you can get into big trouble. To make matters worst many children know this and threaten their parents with it. As you look around you can see that the non-spanking thing is not working. Children or more out of control than ever before and they have no fear.
So what are we to do? We have to learn new ways of teaching our children. A few things that we need to learn is critical language skills that can reduce parenting stress and change a child's emotional state.
A few tips that I can personal give you is don't get into a yelling match you will never win, give your child rewards for behaving, make sure those rewards come after the task has been completed, always have something for you kids to play with or eat when you are out and about, and always tell your kids please and thank you (the reason is to teach them every one should say it.).
