Experts often say that we spend approximately one third of our lives in bed, sleeping. That number translates to a lot of time that we get to spend on our beds, with our sheets and under the covers. This is the perfect excuse to spend a little on teens bedding and to transform where your teen will be spending one-third of their lives into a dream-friendly and stylish oasis right in their own bedroom.
If you want a stylish and comfortable bed that your teenage son or daughter would love to go home to, you have to think a lot about the teens bedding that you choose to pair the bed with. Think about every bed in your home as a coordinated system of layers - the bed sheets, bedspreads, pillows and throws are the blocks that build and add warmth, comfort and beauty to your bed.
When you are styling a teenager's bedroom, you have to coordinate various fabrics and different textures in each layer. Different styles in each layer will create a coordinated look that tells a story. Most design experts create the perfect bed using a set of techniques that they swear has never failed to please any of their customers.
The first technique is to pay careful attention to your sheets. Your bed sheets are the closest thing that will come into contact with the skin of the person who will be using the bed so make sure that they're soft and comfortable. Some people have different tastes and preference with regards to the texture of the sheets so it is best that you ask your teen what he or she likes before purchasing.
Usually though, a fabric that is made of 100% cotton is always loved and counts as one of the best bets in choosing a bed sheet material. As far as looks go, you have to make sure that the bed sheets will match to the rest of the color and style that you plan to use on the other layers. To be safe, choose a color palette that is neutral and will not be hard to coordinate with other styles and designs.
The next layer that you have to pay close attention to when decorating a bed is the blanket. The blanket must be made of nice and soft material that is either wool or cotton. Choose the material depending on the climate and the time of the year. Cotton is best for warmer seasons while layers of wool blankets will ensure that your teen will stay warm and comfortable during winter.
The top layer of the bed will provide the visual statement that will be the most noticeable the moment that you step into the room. Whether you choose a duvet, a quilt, or a bedspread, make sure that you find something that is catchy without being too over-the-top.
A funky pattern, or simple solid colors usually work. Just ensure that the colors will pull the other layers of your teen's bed together and perfectly complements the color and decor of the entire room.
