How to Change Printer Ink Cartridges

Inkjet printers are very useful pieces of equipment to have in the home or office. There are many different projects that can be completed while utilizing a printer, and they are also very useful when it comes to printing important pieces of information from email or the internet. It's very important to know how to keep your printer working correctly, and that includes how to change the printer cartridges in your inkjet printer.

When it comes to changing your printer ink cartridges, you have to keep in mind that every printer is a little bit different. Every printer manufacturer makes their printers slightly unique so that you have to purchase their cartridges. Therefore, changing the ink varies slightly with each printer that you own. However, there are common factors that are the same for every printer.

Typically, you will need to change the cartridges from the inside of the printer. Usually, there are either four different cartridges (black, magenta, cyan and yellow) or two cartridges (black and a tri-color) for you to change. The best way to find the cartridges is to open the top of the printer and look for several black boxes.

You may have to push a button to slide the black boxes to the area where you can reach them, or you may be able to simply slide the black boxes over manually. Once the cartridges are out in the open, you can remove the empty cartridges by giving them a slight wiggle. In some printers, there may be a lever that you can push to fully release the printer cartridges.

Once you have removed the ink cartridges from the printer, take a few minutes to look around the interior of the printer to ensure that it is free of residue. If you do see some ink residue inside the printer, use a clean cloth to wipe it away. If you neglect to wipe away old ink residue, it could clog up the ports for the new set of ink cartridges and cause issues in the future.

Now it is time to install the new ink cartridges. Keep in mind that the new cartridges should go in the same places as the old cartridges. For example, the new black cartridge should be place where the old black cartridge was, and so on.

When you are placing the cartridge into your printer, put them in "heel to toe." You will hear a click that lets you know that the cartridge is in place. After you have replaced each of the cartridges, simply close up the printer and power it on so that it can reset.

Once you become accustomed to changing the ink cartridges in your printer, it will become something like second nature!

Prink is a trusted resource for purchasing ink cartridges -further information can be found on the Prink website.
