A lot of individuals do not have the advantage of having good plumbing in their homes. Building an outhouse will help keep bacteria and infection from spreading. It will also make a remote cabin or second residence more fun to live in.

STEPS IN CREATING AN OUTHOUSE

You will need 3 ribs for the whole set-up: one rib for the foundation, one for the seating area and one for the roof of the outhouse. Create three by three frames and connect them together. You will also require two by four stock to make a pair of lateral feet for the set-up to rest on. You need two pairs of posts to finalize the frame of your project.

The design of the set-up needs four by four wooden posts but you should remember that you need to be able to move it when the pit is full, so make the wooden posts as simple as possible. Support the wooden frames to the supports with bolts. Place the rib for the seating area fourteen inches from the floor. Before making the seat, remember that most individuals want to seat in a normal position or with their knees higher than their hips.

Make a rectangular hole for the seat and it should be eight to ten inches wide and eighteen to twenty inches long. These measurements ensure a healthier environment. Install the seating boards and connect them with the framing rib. After that, place the seat.

There are different wall options that you can pick from. You can either choose a canvas wall to connect to the roof area. If you want a solid wall, remember to pick a light one.

Connect it to the exterior of the ribs and posts. With the overall size of the set-up, no roof joists in the interior are likely to be required. Measure the ends of the roof beams and then place the boards above to create a sloping pitch. Create a hole for the PVC piping that will serve as the ventilation for your creation. Place it a little to the side. Cover the roof with shingles and roofing paper.

A canvas door is usually use for entrance but if you want a wooden one, make a Z-Frame and install a stock to it. Place vertical wooden boards between the upper wooden frame and the lower wooden frame. The waste hole should be two to three inches deeps and two inches square.

Remember that the hole should be created in a level ground and then place the set-up over it. Check for any gaps around it and close any spaces with dirt. Your outhouse is now ready for your convenience and enjoyment.
