How to Build Solar Panels, Know Where to Solder!

When installing your solar panels you will need the following: PV panels, storage batteries (power cells), power inverters, a charge controller, cables and interconnection wires that fit to the size of your house. Before you install the solar power system on your roof, you'll need the required permits. You can find these at your local city hall. After obtaining these permits you can start the installation immediately.

When installing solar panels you will need to fit them 48 inches above your roof. This will require bracket mounts or a stand-alone rack. You should not place the solar panels directly on the roof or on plywood. Placing the panels facing to the south will be your best bet for prolonged sunlight. Bring all of your supplies to the roof, it might be tricky getting it on there later.

First off you will want to connect your solar cells with the tinned interconnection wire. This will require around 10.5 inches for every wire. Soldering is required every 5.25 ins, the half way mark of each wire. You will require three of these solder tinned interconnection wires for every solar cell. Now you will have to connect each solar cell into a pattern that will use the least amount of interconnection wires.

Now solder two power cells facing downwards in the middle of the interconnection wire. You should leave around a 1/6th inch gap between the power cells. Congratulations, you have completed the hardest part of installing solar power panels.

Now you must lay the solar panels onto the solar cells. Do this one by one until all of the panels are installed. The next step will be to mount them onto the bracket mounts. Each mount should be about four feet from each other. Mounting will need to be done on top of your rafters. Drill a few holes into each rafter, then fasten the mount with steel bolts. Now you can fasten all of your solar panels onto the secured mounts. Finally, connect it to your electrical supply. You are officially finished with your solar panels, enjoy saving hundreds of dollars on your energy bill every year!
