How to Be a Good Grandparent

Your babies are all grown up and having babies of their own, such joy in seeing them as parents themselves. Grandparents can sit back and laugh at what your precious grandkids do to their parents. I told my kids I will spoil their children to the point of no return and then give them back so they can undo all the wrongs I instilled in them. They just laughed at me, okay you watch.

Being a grandparent can be one of the most rewarding experiences you will ever have. Some say being grandparents is a parents revenge on their kids when they had to wake up at two in the morning to pull them out of a ditch or drive them home because they were drinking, knowing full well they were in a whole heap of trouble. It is payback time for grandparents.

The bond of being grandparents can never be broken, as they are a part of your heart that seems like God handed to you. Your job is to love them no matter what they have done. It's different from a parent's love, as grandkids will more than likely go to their grandparents first because they know they will not be grounded or yelled at.

The grandparent's life will change forever and it will be for the best. It's almost like getting a second chance with kids. Look at what you have learned through the years and then apply it to your grandkids. It can be so difficult to live far away from the grandkids but you still can be a part of their lives just by calling them, sending them silly gifts, give great and cool Christmas presents and never forget their birthdays.

As grandparents you can give your grandkids all the sugar they want, and then send them home to mom and dad. You really do not have to discipline them like you did with your kids, although it is a good idea to establish ground rules in your home. They will respect you more if you do. It doesn't have to be rigid, just let them know what the rules are.

Always let the small grandkids win, this will give them so much self esteem, that will last them a life time. Your job as grandparents is to love them, make them happy and be silly with them. They will know and they will remember you the rest of their lives.
