Who are you?

I'm not referring to your; name, address, title, position, social security number, bank balance, gender, age, nationality or religion or any other external or outside circumstance that you can use to define or describe yourself.

Who are you? What are your beliefs, prejudices, opinions, values or judgments? How do you feel about yourself? Do you like yourself? Do you love yourself? Do you unconditionally accept who you are now - not who were yesterday or last year or who you are becoming and will become in five years, but who you are now?

I believe that the vast majority of people, and I include myself in this group, from time to time or almost all of the time have lived their present moments riddled with regrets, disappointments from the past or any number of negative emotions or old baggage left over from previous experiences or years. Memories are a good thing to take into your future as long as they guide you, help you or bring a smile to your face.

Bringing negatives into the present and thus your future will have a tremendous impact on your current attitudes, beliefs, expectations and behaviors. Reliving the negatives in your past over and over again in your mind or heart will contribute to increased fear, worry or uncertainty that will have a negative impact on your future and its potential peace, happiness and success.

Who you are is more important than what you do. What you believe will become who you are. Who you are becomes what you attract. What you attract will continue the endless cycle of the you that is or was and not the you that can be.

Let's take a brief look at one of the critical factors that make up who you are - your beliefs. Your beliefs are who you are. What you believe may or not be true but if you believe it you will behave as if it were true. Most of our beliefs come from sources we had little control over and yet these will propel you into the future with greatness or keep you stuck in past mistakes, failures or poor choices.

Beliefs are like signposts. They are constantly reminding us that we are either acting in sync with them or we need to change something. They are like a governor on an engine. Try as you will to achieve or change beyond what your beliefs allow and you will always be brought back to your foundation whether it is right or wrong or in your future best interests or not. It is essential that you understand how your beliefs are influencing your actions, decisions, opinions, behaviors and thoughts.
