A child locator GPS system can make the difference in a parent's mind concerning the whereabouts of their children. The obvious information a children tracking device tells you is the location. But these units can be sensitive enough to provide other data as well.

The GPS system tells a parent where the child is located. This is a great relief to many-worried parental minds, but in some instances, it can be a lifesaver. Nevertheless, it does not have the capability of taking the place of a close parental monitoring. That will always be a parent's job but children tracking device is a great tool to assist the parents to do their job right.

Missing children fall into one of two categories: they are runaways or they are abducted. Broken down into daily statistics, the average missing child number is up to 1,000 per day in the United States. A child locator GPS system, either in the form of a cell phone, or a device hidden within the child's clothing, would go a long way towards bringing that number closer to zero.

How does the child locator GPS device works?

The child locator GPS system picks up radio transmissions from as many as 32 orbiting GPS satellites. Once this is done, location and speed can be determined with this information. Minimums of three satellites are required for accurate and effective calculation of a given position on the planet. It is a measurement of time delays between transmission receptions of each of the satellites radio signals. With this information, the authorities can use the child locator GPS to find a missing child.

There are three types of child locator GPS systems, divided by how data is logged and received. A Data Logger logs the position of the object at regular intervals and retains it in an internal memory, which must be later downloaded. A Data Pusher sends data from the device to a central database at regular intervals, updating location, direction, speed and distance. A Data Puller device is always on and can be queried at any time for its location information.

For the safety of the children, with so many bad endings possible, a child locator GPS system will not only make a frantic parent less worried, but can even prevent a parent's worst nightmare. They are a valid investment for child safety.
