This article is especially for you if you are one of those guys who have spent eons in the gym and have nothing to show for all that time and effort. You may have tried all the different weightlifting styles that are available on the Internet to no avail. You may have tried all the power diets that have been designed without considerable gain. You may even have been tempted to jump on the steroids bandwagon. In desperation you may be on the verge of throwing in the towel...don't do that just yet. There are some tips available for you and they may actually be the lifeline that resuscitates your career in the gym.
Train your socks off! When you get into the gym it is time for serious business. There is no time to stare at the other gym patrons as they do their thing. Your body is your property and as such you must do all that is in your power to improve it. Do not take training lightly. If you workout and step away without breaking a sweat then you are doing almost nothing. The gym should be somewhere where you strive to surpass the limits that you achieved on the previous day. In other words your goal should always be 'progressive overload training'.
About progressive overload training. This is one of the main tenets of success in the gym. Do not make the mistake of letting your muscles get complacent by training them with static poundage. You should always try to put in more effort on consecutive gym days. The body muscles respond to the stress that they are exposed to. In case you decide to stick to a static regimen your muscles will also become static; they won't grow bigger since there is no resistance to respond to.
The use of weights in training. You will not make any considerable gain in the gym if you are one of those persons that skip weight training. The simple exercises like leg raises and leg extensions are for the weak at heart. For you who want to gain muscle and mass at the same time there is no way round weight training. Weight training should also be a progressive effort. The underlying factor for success is increasing the load always, no compromises. This way you will create a perfect anabolic environment in the body that will facilitate the growth of bigger and stronger muscles.
The importance of intensity in the workout. As you head for the gym you should be fully aware that the least time you spend there doing intense workouts, the better the end results. Try to spend at most an hour in the gym. While there you should concentrate on fewer reps and more loads. Squeeze as much work as you possibly can into that one hour span. The workouts themselves should be explosive and fast. Once you design a training program that is seemingly effective there will be no more time for dillydallying; it should be pure concentration with your eyes firmly fixed on your set goals.
