When you're writing an ebook, you have to worry about different parts of the ebook because each one serves a specific purpose. It's like making a delicious stew full of different ingredients that come together to give it that perfect taste. Well, in this article, I'm going to talk about the about the author page of an ebook and why it's important to include it in your stew.
On the surface, the about the author section of your ebook is to give your readers a quick introduction to who you are and what you're about. You can include a quick bio of your background, you can give an example that builds credibility for who you are and what you know, and you can tell a concise story that makes you an expert about the particular subject of the ebook.
Furthermore, you can, and should, put a couple of clickable links in your bio that invites people to your main website or main product that's relevant to the topic. There's no right or wrong way to write this section, but it's a good idea to include at least 1 of the ideas I just mentioned above.
Tip: Don't be afraid to tell people what you do. If they like your content and what you give them really helps them out, they will want to know more about you and they will be loyal to you.
However there's a deeper issue as to why you should always include an about the author section in your ebook.
When someone reads your ebook, you have no idea how much they know about you. This might be the first piece of content someone reads of yours or this might be the twentieth piece of content someone reads of yours, but maybe this is the content that gets them to like and trust you. You just never know.
When they do end up liking and trusting you, they will visit your website, they'll opt-in to your database and there's a high probability that they will buy a product from you that you recommend, whether its an affiliate product or whether its a product you created. When they do end up liking you, that's when magical things start happening in your online business.
Another deeper benefit is that you have no idea if your ebook ended up in someone else's hands because it was shared (which is a great thing), so you want to take every opportunity to inform people about who you are and what you're about. For instance, let's say you find a great ebook about spiders and you share the ebook with a friend of yours who also loves spiders.
If the ebook does its job, there's a good chance that person will visit your site and opt-in to your database... and you didn't even market to that new person. You're ebook did the marketing for you. If you don't include an about the author page, how will the new reader know who you are or how to find out more about what you do? The answer is they won't.
My advice is to carefully craft your about the author page just like you would carefully craft your resource box for your articles you submit to article directories. Take your time and do it right, because once you create a great couple of paragraphs, you can use the same about the author sequence in all of your ebooks.
