Lots of people are looking for ways on how to resist sugar cravings. If you have a really sweet tooth then don't worry as this article will help you. It looks at the different ways you can steer away from a strong desire to eat sweet treats, candy & chocolate etc.
How To Resist Sugar Cravings
1) Eat Protein For Snacks - The more sugar you eat usually the craving for more can become more intense. Why? Because sugar will release a chemical craving in your brain. To make sure you avoid this turn your snack times into protein snacks. Protein takes longer to digest than carbs and fats so you feel fuller for longer. Protein snacks will lessen your desire for sweet foods/snacks to help you break free from your craving of sugar.
2) You Don't Have To Say NO - As you continually try to deny yourself and tell yourself that you can't have any sugar you can make your cravings worse. Why not tell yourself that you will be allowed to have some later on, but just for now you really want to reach your goal.
3) Have A Treat With A Healthy Snack - Ever tried to stop yourself from eating a sugar treat & ended up eating everything else in sight? Then afterwards you then go on to eat the sugary treat aswell. Another option is to put a small amount of your sugary treat on the plate with your healthy food, then leave the kitchen to eat it. This will give you a taste of what you desired and by eating the healthy food aswell it will stop you from going back for seconds.
4) Go For A Short Walk - Studies show that when you are really tempted by your favourite treat a short 15 minute walk can help you "forget" about your craving. Do this so it will not only help you avoid eating that treat but also burn off some extra calories while you are walking.
