How To Make $1,000 Per Weekend From Home, Using Your iPad - Really? Really

Expert Author Scott R. Linden

The iPad is fabulous, but how can you make some serious coin with that piece of glass?

OK, so you got an iPad, learned to use the slippery little devil, and now you life consist of you, and your iPad, right? Your significant-other is jealous. Heck, your cat is jealous! What can you do about it? Others are often able to have their wounds soothed somewhat, if that hobby can turn into some cash to benefit all - and all you need is a couple of skills you probably already have. If you have them now, just tune them up.

Spread your iPad joy.

It is a fallacy that older baby boomers can't handle technology - they can. What has changed with the iPad is, even people in their 80s can now use technology. We all know older people who have refused to touch a keyboard or touch a mouse - now they don't have to. If you can teach, and preach a little, you can roll those green bills into your pocket all day long, if you want to. Preaching (as in someone standing on soap box telling a crowd about salvation or soap), is the first skill you'll need. It is your ability to get excited about what you have to sell. Second is teaching. It is really just sharing gently, and a little patience. The preaching will bring the money, and a chance to do the teaching.

Skill #1: Preaching.

Have you ever talked to someone so excited about what they were telling you, that a little switch almost flipped in you (or did flip in you) that caused you join, buy or read whatever it was they were excited about? Haven't we all? A little while after that, did it occur to you that it probably would not have mattered what that excited person was excited about, you still would have been excited by their excitement? Sure. If you love your iPad, don't be low-key about it! Get and stay excited. You excitement should be real, even if you have to work at it. Working at it doesn't mean you're faking it. It means you just aren't "naturally" that excited about anything. You can learn to be more excited. Simply, smile, laugh, loosen up a little and turn up the volume a little. You'll love the new excited you!

Make up a full color flyer on regular 8.5 x 11 copy paper. If you are not good with MS Publisher, or something like it, get some help from someone who is. The message? You love your iPad, and you want to share that love with people who would like to learn to use one, before or after they buy one. AND that you'll be doing that at the Comfort Inn on old Route 635 at 7pm on Saturday (10 days to two weeks from the time you have the flyers in your hand).

Use some cool iPad photos on the front, and your mug, smiling. Keep the message very short and inviting on the front like, "Finally, technology you can learn and love like I do, in just 2 hours!"

Put all the details in short paragraphs and bullet points on the back, including a tempting list of all the things they'll learn how to do in two hours, if they own an iPad or not. Put the price on back: $20 for two hours (or what ever you decide). Now, if the Comfort Inn (or where ever you rent the room) seats 50, that's good because that's how many people you are liable to have there (you should get 1% at least). If more want in, tell them they can come next week!

Yes, get some thin, clear plastic bags (Walmart) which will allow the flyer to be flat, and will give you enough bag above it to be able to tie it to a door knob. Get them out. You can do about 100 an hour.

Skill #2: Teaching.

If you hate teaching, you probably didn't read this far, so we know you like it, to some degree. Obviously, it is as simply as just showing them and repeating as required, and then watching and helping as you allow them to do it. You can make your flyer so that what you're preaching (pitching or selling) is individual one on one lessons, in which case, you should get at least $20 an hour. However, how can you do that with 50 people in a room?

You can rent or buy a used projector, and a special cord for your iPad. The cord can be purchased at any tech store or online. The used projector on Craigslist, eBay or Amazon or buy it new. You can project on any light colored wall. The Comfort Inn or any like it will have a meeting room with a screen. They may include a projector, just ask. Now, your crowd can watch every move you make, as you make it, on your iPad.

Is it worth do?

If you are making more than $1,000 in a Saturday evening, this is probably not for you. If you like it, you can build it by doing a good job which will bring referrals. Yes, you can have a smaller group at your home if you like. Have fun, and be excited, and you'll probably do well. Obviously, we can't promise you'll make $1,000, in any case. Hopefully you can see the demand for this, simply by looking at iPad sales, and those that are using the iPad. The iPad is a break-through, game changing product. Part of that change, is opening tech to millions who previously would not touch technology.
