How To Get The Most Out Of Your Indoor Cycling Bike

When it comes to getting in shape, it seems like many have a hard time staying motivated and committed. People will often make a news years resolution to get in shape, only to stop after a short period of time. Or, they may see the latest fitness product being advertised on TV and decide now is the time to start exercising. After using it a few times, they store it somewhere and it begins collecting dust.

The same can be said for indoor cycling bikes. They are an excellent product that offer convenience and the opportunity to get in shape, but sooner rather than later they become just a piece of furniture. The following will discuss what can be done to avoid this happening to you.

Are You Committed?

First and foremost, you have to make a realistic commitment. Decide what time you are going to use your indoor cycling bike each day, and how many days per week you will cycle. It doesn't really matter how long or often in the beginning, the idea is to get into the habit of using the indoor cycling bike consistently. When you establish a routine, then you will likely stay with it.

Many people like to watch TV while they are indoor cycling. Most TV shows last for 30 minutes, so you can cycle during a show that you enjoy watching. So instead of just sitting on the couch watching a show, you can actually be exercising. This is a great use of time and also makes indoor cycling more enjoyable.

Placement

Another important point is to avoid putting your indoor cycling bike in a storage area. When you do this, the bike then becomes out of sight. You may eventually just forget about it. Therefore, put in a place that where you will be sure not to forget it. Setting up a room just for exercising is most ideal, but the basement is usually a good place if you have it furnished. Wherever you place it, keep it in sight.

Cycling in the morning is a great time to do so because it will give you a great energy boost for the rest of your day. Also, you get it out of the way and won't have to worry about doing it after work. Cycling right before you go to bed isn't the best time because it takes some time for your heart rate to return to normal.
