Finding and Deciding on a Product

A step by step process

In this Document I have come up with a simple step by step process to finding a product, and researching it. Make sure you do all the research and that you follow through with everything. Thanks Andy

First Step Finding the Product

What we want to have by the end of this process is a top ten list. This list will basically consist of the top ten products out of 50 that you have researched. This way you always have a fall back if your first product idea doesn't work, or you simply have no interest in the product.

Making Your 50 Product List

There are a couple of ways to do this.

Process 1

You will sit down and come up with a list of 10 things you like to do. Then come up with 5 product ideas for each Item you like doing. After all of that and possibly a headache you will have your list and you can begin research. For some people this may work however there is a better way.

Process 2

In this step we will be going to http://www.google.com/products, and use there list that is automatically generated. When you first come to the site read through the list and when you see something you think would be fun or you would like to sell. After reading the whole list simply press F5 and the list will be changed. Keep doing this until you get to 50 product ideas.

Final

After we have this list it is time to do the research. Down below I have steps for you to take to weed out and produce your top 10. Keep in mind though that you are going to want to keep all your ideas even if they only make your top 20.

Researching Your 50 Product Ideas

Below is an example and instructions on how to research each individual product idea.

We will be researching - Moon Shoes

First we go to http://www.keyworddiscovery.com/search.html and type in moon shoes in the empty search box. This returns the results of over 6000 searches a month. This is good because we want the results to be between 1000 - 50000. So know that we that confirmed we will go to the next site.

Secondly we go to http://www.google.com and type in moon shoes in the empty search box. This returns the results of 508,000. This is also good as we want our results to be with 500,000 - 2 Million.

Thirdly we go to http://www.google.com/trends, and type in moon shoes in the empty search box.

This is shows us that this market is very volatile and it looks like Christmas is the only time this market really is alive. So this tells me that I probably don't want to build a site for it. Cause the best time to sell is only during end of November and through to the end of the year.

Another way we can use Google to help us with knowing the market is typing in allintitle:" and then the keyword you are using to research your product. In this case we will be using moon shoes so we will search allintitle:"moon shoes. This will show us all of the website that area using that keyword in there home page keyword title.

Do this with every product idea putting the 4 different results to the side at the end we take them all and arrange them into ranks so that the one with the best ratio is at the top and the one with the worst is at the bottom.
