How To Enjoy Your Grandchildren

Grandchildren! Everyone dreams of having them someday and enjoying bragging about them and spending time with them, too. The great things about grandchildren is that they don't expect much from you. They expect the most from their parents and you get to be the one that enjoys them and sends them back home.

Many parents love it when they become grandparents and some wait a long time for this to happen, making it even more exciting. If you are one of the lucky ones out there that have grandchildren, it is easy to enjoy their company. If you live nearby, it's very easy. If you live in another state, you will need to be a bit more creative but it is still possible to maintain your relationship with your grandchild. All children enjoy looking forward to things in the future. As a grandparent, you can plan weekly or bi-weekly fun times with your grandchild. It could include going shopping, to the library, bowling, taking a walk, going to the local park or just bringing them to your house and enjoying time with them. Whatever plans you make with them, they most probably will love because they are spending time with someone they love. At the same time, you will be helping to give their parents a well-needed break.

Grandparents will tell you that it is tremendous joy that comes from spending time with grandchildren. As you are playing a game with them, or baking, or just taking a walk, you will soon be remembering doing the same things with your child when they were young. The best part is remembering it and the grandchild reacting the same way as their parent did in that instance. It is equal to a really great full circle moment that we all love! Once you get on a regular schedule of spending time with your grandchild, the worse week ever will become brighter just knowing that tomorrow or the next day you will be having fun with him. Some people may think that spending time with the grandchild helps the grandchild but it actually helps both of them. Anytime that anyone spends time with someone they love, it is always a good thing.

Many fantastic memories are ahead of you as a grandparent. Start the new photo album now because you will soon be taking many photographs of your grandchildren and loving it. For some reason, your level of pride becomes ten times greater with your grandchildren than your children. No one is really sure why this is, it just seems to be. Another great idea if you happen to have several grandchildren is to try to spend time alone with each one of them. Finding things to do with each grandchild that they enjoy, will promise to make it a special time as well. If you don't live close by your grandchildren, be sure to schedule visits, phone them regularly, email and/or Skype them, too. Remember, grandchildren are a special gift so take the time to enjoy them.
