How To Control Your Ever Running Puppy?

Puppies are an active lot. It is really fun to see your puppy running around. But is that always good? You need to control your hyperactive puppy once in a while. Otherwise a running puppy is hardly a problem if you consider the exercise it is getting from it. However, there are few hazards that you must keep in mind for your hyperactive puppy.
Hazards Caused to and due to Running Puppies

  • As mentioned, puppies run simply because they derive a lot of fun from it. But unfortunately, they are not in a position to judge what is right, wrong or what is dangerous for them. They behave exactly the same way, little children or infants behave!
  • While running mindlessly, if there is an absence of open space(s), they can crash onto things like open doors, mirrors, electronic equipments inside the home and even electrical wires. Not only they are at risk but are putting you at risk too.
  • For the homes, situated close to a busy road, often your puppy might run away on the road and might kill itself. They also are a hazard to the drivers on roads and have often caused traffic snarls and accidents!
  • If your puppy runs around too much, then there is a probability that something is wrong with it either physically r mentally. Sometimes it so happens with puppies that they cannot rest their minds in peace - it can arise from an eating disorder or even if they have worms! And you thought that it enjoys running and playing.
  • A running puppy might grow up to be extremely aggressive in its middle age and then slow down immensely when it is in its last stages. You wouldn't want a dog like that; would you?

Controlling the Running Puppy
So you see how there can arise a number of problems in case your puppy runs excessively? There are some tried and tested and effective ways using which you can control your hyperactive puppy. These methods have been followed always and with success.

  • Get another house with a backyard or with a garden: In case you're planning to buy a house, make sure that it has a lawn or a garden with it. Not only will it make your puppy happy, but even you can choose to relax whenever you want to. You can even sun bathe in your backyard! Of course, changing a house just for your dog would be a costly idea! Consider this only when you're planning to get a new home.
  • Puppy Checkup: Take your puppy to a vet in case its activities grow even more hyperactive. Your vet will tell you how to control your pup with a proper dose of medicines, nutritional food and proper obedience training.
  • Obedience School: Get your pup enrolled in an obedience school, in case you find it difficult to spend time with it. The people at the school are professionals and will surely help you out with your problem.

A running puppy is not a problem till the time it is under control and follows your orders.
