There are lots of reasons why a drug abuse intervention can save a life. Hesitation or procrastination is completely out of the question. The intervention needs to be done to rescue a loved one from a highly dangerous cycle of hedonism.
Save Lives with a Drug Abuse Intervention
Depending on the source of the drugs, it's possible the addict could get killed trying to "score" or cause great harm to those around them in the process. People are never friends in that environment, despite what the addict may want to believe. Double-crossing someone they met while using could also lead to bodily harm or death.
Legal Bills and Police Records
Being caught in the act of using or having used a drug is impending; it will happen sooner or later. Whether they are caught physically using, in possession of paraphernalia that indicates using or under the influence, law trouble naturally follows as well as a police record. Lawyer's fees, bond money and other expenses are something that neither the majority of addicts nor their families, have to spare.
Aside from hard jail time, the conviction on those drug charges will stay on their record forever. Even after going through a rehab program, it will be extremely difficult to find a job or even a place to live. If prison is the unfortunate result, it will be difficult, to say the least, to rejoin society.
Be Healthier
If the addict is not hurt or even killed in the process of "scoring", the damage done by the drug itself is substantial. Again, untimely death is highly possible from this damage from the use of the drugs. OINce a person quits using, the health changes will be significant and their physical abilities will also increase as well, but it will take some time. As example, the ex-addict will have the ability to be more active without that "tired" feeling, memory will increase and last longer, and they likely breathe better.
Enhanced Quality of Life
When an addict or drug user stops doing drugs, the better things in life are brought to their attention. Starting over again by going to school, finding a job or re-establishing a relationship with someone they did wrong by, will be made possible now. All of their resources that were previously used to find drugs can now be reallocated to positive things. Recovered addicts or users have a wealth of experience that may be used to help others to make a recovery.
If you are in need of a drug abuse intervention yourself or if you are considering a drug abuse intervention for someone close to you, it is imperative that you move as quick as possible. Considering the benefits, what reason could you have to avoid it?
