How Much Should I Weigh? - Using the Body Mass Index Chart

It is a very smart idea to ask yourself how much should I weigh. Am I too heavy? How high is my Body Mass Index (BMI)? If you are too fat or too skinny if could have a negative affect on your health.

You are at an increased risk for disease, diabetes and high blood pressure if your are obese. To set a goal to be in a healthy weight range is a very good resolution for New Year's or any other time.

In order to check, How much should I weigh?, first you need to know your height. First, tape an 11 ½ " x 8" piece of paper to a wall in an area that will show a mark for your height.

Using a pen, mark on the paper at the crown of your head to indicate how tall you are. Remember to take off your shoes before checking your height.

Measure the distance from the floor to the mark you made on the paper that is on the wall. Then on a separate sheet of paper write your measurement. Using a weight scale check your weight. Take off a few pounds off for your clothes and items you have in your pockets.

Go on the internet to find a height weight table. Use a search engine and search for the term "height weight" table. To determine how much you should weigh see where your height and weight are in the height weight chart. There are many charts available for you to use.

Your BMI will tell you the amount of fat you have stored in your body. The indicator on the table will show that you are severely underweight, normal, overweight or obese class I, obese class II or obese class III.

A BMI for a person with average weight is between 18.5 and 24.9. A person with a BMI of between 18.5 and 22.9 have a low risk of developing heart disease or diabetes.

Although there are many different methods to determine how much you should weigh, the BMI (Body Mass Index) accurate ways to help you find a fit weight for you.
