When it comes to losing weight there is one major tip that you can do to lose some big weight. It is very simple in practice, but can be hard to follow through with. The way that you can easily lose some weight is to switch the drinks that are full of empty calories to something with no calories like water.
Most of us don't realize the amount of calories that we are taking in each day. On average, American's are consuming more calories from liquids than we were a few decades ago. Part of the reason for this is because the size of the drinks has increased. In the 1950's the average size of a drink was 8 oz. Today the standard size is a 16 oz bottle or a 12 oz can.
Pop is one of the biggest culprits of weight gain. A normal can of pop has around 150 calories in it. A large majority of the calories in pop come from the sugar in it. In fact, a can of pop has about 39 grams of sugar in it! This is quite a lot of sugar to be coming from one food source. If you normally drink 3-4 cans of pop a day then you are consuming about 450-600 calories from the pop alone. This represents about one-fourth of your recommended daily intake of calories.
A pound of fat is about 3,500 calories. Meaning that if you drink 3-4 cans of pop a day then you will gain a pound of fat roughly every 7 days or one week. Over the course of one year that is about 52 pounds!
Completely cutting out pop can and will be difficult most of the time because of the caffeine in it. So the best way to handle this is to do it in micro steps. The first step that you will want to do is to reduce the amount of pop that you are drinking by one can a day. Do this for one to two weeks. Continue doing this for the next few weeks until you have reached one can of pop a day.
Once you reach one can of pop a day then your next step will be to switch over to diet pop. You make think that you are done once you get to this stage but you are not. Diet pop is much better than normal pop but studies have shown that it is almost as bad as regular pop. Your final step will be to switch over to water or some kind of flavored water that doesn't have any calories in it.
