How Cognitive Processing Training Makes Learning More Automatic

Your child can be better prepared and equipped for the rigors of this coming year and the answer lies within. Every child has some measure of development in concentration, attention, memory, visual processing, visualization, and other cognitive skills. However, often these skills are not developed to the child's full potential. Cognitive skills are the foundation of the learning process. The best teaching and instruction in the world cannot help a child who cannot pay attention, is easily distracted, forgets soon after instruction or teaching, or cannot follow directions. Cognitive processing skills determine how fast and efficiently we think, learn and perform tasks. A child who has fully developed cognitive skills can learn any subject faster and easier than a child who has a deficit in these area.

Good processing speed performance for thinking and working at school each day are a necessity for real success in academics. Processing speed affects every daily school activity. For instance, Jenna needs extra time to finish work on a math test, because she can not think fast enough, even though she knows the answers. Her answers are marked wrong because she cannot finish in the time frame allowed. While another student Kyle, must read and reread the chapter to answer questions on his homework paper because his visualization and memory skills are insufficient. If all cognitive skills are working at optimum capacity a child can learn fast and easily.

This systematic training forces more of conscious learning into the subconscious. The strong areas are enhanced and the weak areas are strengthened through intense training. The result is more of the learning process becomes automatic. For instance, when you drive your car from home to the grocery store, you don't remember every time you used the brake, turned the steering wheel or pushed the gas petal. These reactions have become automatic and you can think about dinner tonight, talk to the children, or plan you day, while driving. You have become proficient in that area of your brain. Consciously, you don't need to think about driving, and it becomes a relatively automatic process. In the same way reading, writing and other activities your child engages in everyday at school can become automatic as their brain expands in these critical areas. As children train, their brain produces new neurons that branch out and cause millions of additional connections between brain cells that enable them to learn faster and easier.

One-on-one individualized cognitive training, yields dramatic and permanent results in a short period of time. Confidence grows as each session brings a more success. Cognitive training is beneficial for any student; but, the results are especially dramatic for children who have a learning disability. Most children will exceed the standard grade norm 2 years or more after training. Home kits are available for parents, teachers, and others to administer the program and give a child the gift of cognitive training.
