How Can One Install Saunas in a Lower Level Bathroom?

If ever you've wanted a sauna in your home, your basement is probably the very best location for one. First you are going to have to figure out the dimensions of the sauna you desire. Just be sure to have a water source at the location, and then contact a manufacturer of precut saunas. In return they will send you a kit with all precut boards that are neatly labeled, and you will also receive a thermometer, a heater, benches and a pre-hung door.

You will have to do the framing first so that all the pieces fit in an exact manner. A true Finnish sauna will involve Nordic White Spruce, but here in America it's common to use Western Red Cedar. All of the area where the sauna will go will need to be thoroughly insulated, of course, using a foil vapor barrier.

Your boards will come with a tongue and groove setup, so that it will be relatively easy to construct the walls and the ceiling. If you are aware that anyone in your sauna group suffers from claustrophobia you may wish to order large window panes rather than small ones to help that person not feel as closed in when using the sauna.

Above all remember that all surfaces must be made of glass or wood, so that there is no metal to ever touch you because the high heat involved in saunas will heat the metal in a sufficient manner as to burn you. This is why exposed screws are not used in putting together the wood.

Your wooden benches will arrive all prebuilt, and thus all you need to do is to attach those onto the supports. In this case screws will be used, but they will be totally hidden under the benches. You typical sauna kits can handle 5 people comfortably sitting in these saunas, or two people lying down.
