If you have a small business for either a product or a service, you can benefit greatly from networking. Using the power of other people and the ability of your network to bring you more clients, you can grow your business much faster than you could if you were doing it alone. Read on to find out the power of building your own business network and what it can do for you.
With a business network, you can multiply your sales force without actually having one on the payroll. By creating a group of like-minded people that are all working for a common goal, to help improve each other's businesses. Having a network also has another advantage in that you can go to this group of people for advice, because many of them have gone through the same experience and can tell you where they went wrong.
In developing a network it is good to create one where you are not competing for the same customers with another business in the network. Instead, you should be a complimentary business to the other services in the network. This way, you are giving an extra service so that the business with the customer can say "yes, I can help you with that, I have just the right person in mind." Perhaps you are a lawyer and you have an accountant, a home builder, a sales person, and a copywriter in your network. All of these services can greatly help each other out and increase the business for the others without competing at all, because you are only adding to the business of each other instead of taking it away. When any of the other businesses need an attorney, they will refer you.
With this small group of people, you are increasing your small sales force from 1 (just you) to many (your whole network). Everyone on the network has customers that they deal with throughout the day. These are customers with individual problems that all require individual solutions. You business only provides a certain set of solutions to the customer. In the past, if your customer needed something you could not provide, they just went somewhere else. Now, with your network, you are keeping the customer inside this tight group of people, all benefiting each other and the customer at the same time. The network is the best way for you to get a ton of new leads into your business without costing you anything more than reciprocity.
