Explain to me why people feel the need to lose 5 or 10 pounds in a matter of a few days and do the most outrageous gimmicks to accomplish it? This is usually preceded by an important function coming up whereby they want to look "good" in a certain outfit or just to feel better about themselves. But, how healthy is sudden weight loss in a short period of time?
For the most part, it's very easy to lose an outrageous amount of weight in the short term but does not last. By whatever means used, when the scale says you've lost 5 or 10 pounds in let's say 4 days or so, typically that weight is body fluid or water weight. It might suffice for whatever event you're attending but will not last beyond that. If you really want and need to be slimmer for a particular occasion, the best thing to do is to plan ahead with some very realistic and doable methods. Yes, I know it's not what you want to hear but there is no magic pill, no gimmick and no piece of exercise that will replace common sense eating.
There are several things you can do right off the bat that will increase your chances of dropping a few pounds within a couple of days. One is to stop drinking the alcohol beverages and two cut out all processed carbs. You don't have to completely erase carbs from your diet, only the ones that convert to sugar almost instantly like cakes, cookies, while bread, white rice, white pasta...you see where I'm going. Stick with brown rice and pasta, whole grain sprouted wheat breads, etc. Three, drink lots of water; half of your body weight in ounces is recommended. Four, dress appropriately for your body type to maximize your most flattering features.
That's it! You may not lose 20 pounds in 3 or 4 days but it will help you look and feel better for that special occasion. Then, when you're ready, try even a healthier long term approach utilizing these same methods.
