How Babies Don't Have to Cost the Earth

There is one thing that you can be certain of and that is that children cost us a fortune. If it's not clothes, nappies and food its birthday presents and trips to the hairdresser! So how can we reduce the cost of our children so that we can afford to spend money on treating them and making their childhoods memorable? Well how about buying second hand clothes?

Many people think that second hand clothes are old and full of holes but this isn't true. Just think about how long you have had some of your clothes that are in perfect wearing order and you have a vague idea of how cost efficient second hand clothes can be. Most children's clothes are bought and worn for a year max which means that there is plenty of wear still left in them so why not make the most of it?

Second hand clothes are a great way to save money and save the environment too by recycling! And its not limited to clothes either. Just think about how many trees you could save if you passed a cot from one family member to another. I'm not just talking about brothers and sisters but cousins, nephews, nieces etc. These items are built to withstand knocks. Bumps, being kicked and even gnawed but we only use them for 2 years before making it redundant. This is such a waste and does nothing to help our environmental situation.

The term "Reduce, re use, recycle" doesn't just apply to the contents of our recycling bins. Its relevant to all aspects of our lives so why not do your bit for the environment and re use or recycle your baby furniture and clothes?
