Planning a family vacation for some is a long thought out and saved for adventure. While many have the means and are able to leave for vacation on a whim, there are others that wait years for the opportunity to go someplace else and spend time with friends or family.

When planning a vacation, after figuring out where to go, finding a place to stay comes into play. Most people thing the only option would be to stay in a hotel or with friends. In fact, there are other options available. One of those options is a rental property. This can either be a condo, townhome, apartment or house.

Thinking ahead can help greatly in trying to decide which accommodations are best for you. If you are staying for a short visit, most likely it isn't a problem eating out for every meal. In this situation, staying in a nice hotel is probably a fine option.

If an extended visit is in your future, perhaps taking into account the cost of eating out verses preparing meals yourself is applicable. In this instance, renting a place that has a kitchen area might be a better option, and a fairly decent money saving option at that.

Staying for a long period of time might also warrant looking for a place with laundry facilities. Having to pay for the laundry mat can become pricey and if an available unit has a place to do laundry at your own convenience, it might be worth it. This option would allow you to do laundry at your own pace and leave it unattended. Perhaps you can just do laundry late at night without the worry of getting a machine or standing around for hours.

While seemingly more expensive, in the long run the benefits and conveniences might in fact be a money saver. Looking for a rental property for your next vacation is definitely worth looking into.
