So the next step in grooming horses is going to be picking out their feet. What you would want to do first of all is to move your horse over just a step. Remember that you are always going to face him towards the back. Next is put your weight against his shoulders so he shifts his weight to the opposite side. You are going to run your hand down his leg while leaning. Then you are going to pick up his foot and use the hoof pick. After that you are going to pick at his feet.
Before you even start, make sure that you have plenty of space. When you do, you are only going to face the back of the horse. Lean your weight onto him so he pushes his weights to the other side. Run your hands down his legs as he lifts it, then once he does make sure to pick it up. You really would want to support his foot. Do not be afraid to get your hands dirty while doing this!
You are going to use the hoof pick to clean out any dirt alongside of his frog, which is part of his foot. Then using some hoof picks, have this brushing part that you can use to finish. Go ahead and do the other side as well. Once again, you are going to push him over. Lean up against him and put your hands down his leg. Support him well with your hands and pick out always, picking it down so you do not get the dirt back onto you. Brush to finish up!
Once you are done with all that, the next part is to pick out the back feet. This could be a little harder as they need more support picking up their back legs, but it is the same idea you are going to face in the back side of the horse. You are then going to lean your weight against the horse. Run your hands down his leg squeezing. Then pick up and support. You might have to pull out a little bit towards the back. Same idea with the hoof pick, just pick out the dirt alongside the side of the grooves. Alongside his frog, use the brush to finish. Be careful when you pass behind always making sure that you are back there.
You would probably move him over and lean up against him, running your hands down his leg and then supporting with both hands until his relaxes and you can pull it out using the hoof pick to take out and clean the grooves. To finish, make sure to keep on brushing them until all the dirt is removed and all gone. That is the way you groom your beloved horses! They will look just awesome you will see!
