Homebuilders Bringing in the Extended Family System!

Although this does sound strange, yet, home-builders are cashing their options by bringing in the extended family concept which seems to be working just fine for families where both the spouses are working. Mortgage rates of today do not seem to be much convincing which is the real reason why home-builders have resort to certain tricks and tactics to keep their business moving and popularizing the idea of extended families seem to work wonders for their business.

Individuals who are going for purchasing homes are trying to go for three to four bedroom apartments or houses which seem to work well in the future, especially if you have visiting in-laws from time to time. Also, if both the spouses are working, in-laws serve as free babysitters. Homes are now being marketed under the multi-generational family category so that it can reap in quick buyers as buyers who have families are mostly looking into such kind of homes as in today's environment more and more families are living in the joint support system with their families.

Statistics taken in by the Census Bureau reveal that families that are living with three generations rose from 3.9 million in 2000 to 5.1 million in 2010 and more than 51 million of Americans seem to live in households that have at least two generations. It has been recently found that aging baby boomers are staying with their working children and are acting as the 'new baby care' which will also cut down costs on babysitting.

There is a new concept which is also gaining great momentum lately which is the idea of 'home within a home'. Such kind of houses have two front doors, two kitchens, two living rooms and two washer and dryer sets and they may have one or two bedrooms each. This idea seems to be exciting to all those who would like to purchase homes on a dual partnership thereby; they can have a great roof to shelter under at today's best mortgage rates.

However, it is not known for sure if this trend is going to continue in the long run or not. Most of the chief economists state that such trends have just evolved due to the hard economic times as multi-generational households just mean that the roof can hold more people. There are other economists that are of the view that it is not the mortgage rates of today or the bad economy which is entirely responsible for multi-generational households but the trend was definitely accelerated during the bad economic years. Thus, it seems that the economy is mostly responsible for bringing in the amazing and exciting family environment of the multi-generational households.
