When it comes to home security, there are a great number of options available for you to choose from. Many of these options, such as lighting, signs and stickers, and cameras are plain deterrents. We should never forget the primary places a burglar will gain access to your home. The most effective security solutions need to monitor your windows and your doors.

The very basic home security options for your windows and doors are keeping them locked. Adding a deadbolt to your door increases its strength and makes it a little tougher to kick in or shimmy open. Generic doors can also be modified to a lock that has a number pad, rather than a key lock that could be picked. You might add a security bar to your windows that will prevent them from being opened from the outside, even if they aren't locked. In some extreme situations, you might even consider putting bars across your windows.

One of the most effective ways to prevent access to your home is installing a home alarm system. Security for your doors and windows come in a couple of different options. You might choose a standalone option that immediately triggers an alarm. The most popular option is the inclusion of a home solution that is monitored by a security company. Both of these types of systems protect your windows and doors by providing electrical contacts on your windows and doors that will send a signal when the window or door is opened. While these options are going to be more expensive than changing your locks or adding a window bar, they are also going to be more effective, in general. If you have a room with multiple windows then you may want to consider a glass break detector. These detectors will cover a larger area and will trigger the alarm when a window is shattered. These will of coarse do nothing if a window is left unlocked.

Whatever options you choose to use for your windows and doors, you should also keep in mind the other sorts of options and accessories that are available to you. The most effective options are going to have several layers, and are going to work in a variety of ways to deter a burglar from choosing your home. The more difficult it is for a burglar to get into your home, the less likely your home will become a target.

Home Security systems can help deter potential criminals from even approaching your home, and once they are inside, authorities are alerted immediately. ADT is the leader in home security and your best choice for a home protection system.
