Home Gym Workouts - How To Get The Best Benefit In The Shortest Time

Home gym workouts can be every bit as effective as a workout done in a regular gym, as long as you are smart about it. Lots of home gyms are lacking equipment, so you have to improvise. Get the most from yours with this home gym workout.
Cardio
Things are different at home. Gym workouts usually start with some running or something on a treadmill or elliptical trainer, and if you have those at home, great, use them. If not though, you'll need something else to get warmed up and get the blood pumping. Why not get yourself one of those little running trampolines to jog on, or even go for a quick 10 minute job around your neighbourhood.
Chest
If you can use a weight bench as part of your home gym workout, great. Get some barbell bench presses going, or even dumbell ones to get the muscles developing evenly. For those of you without access to a bench, you can get things started with some declined pushups. If that's not tough enough for you, try it with your feet on your dining table. Tougher? If that's still not enough, try it with one hand.
Legs
Your legs are a little harder to build during your home gym workouts, but that doesn't mean it can't be done. First of all, if you have a bench, some basic leg curls are good, and if you have weights, some squats will build the thighs. Calves are tougher to build, but try standing on your bottom step with one foot, with the heel hanging off the edge, then raising yourself up just using that foot. Tough huh? These calf raises give you the burn like you wouldn't believe.
Arms
Thankfully, your arms are an easy thing to include in just about any home gym workout. Even if you don't have any kind of weight machine at home, you can probably spring for a basic set of dumbells, and if you have dumbells, your arms are set! Some basic curls will build the biceps nicely, and to pump up your triceps you can do some simple seated triceps extensions, and the dumbell kickback, which is especially effective when you are starting out.
