A lot of hockey players have a hard time to know where and when the opposing player will move and in what directions. There is a simple technique that once you apply the basics will eliminate this problem forever in your hockey practice.
Usually hockey players tend to focus and look at where the puck is and they are fixated on either trying to get it away from the opposing player or to anticipate where the puck will be going.
The opposing player has choices that will confuse you because he can try to out play you, pass the puck or shot the puck.
The biggest that you'll face is being out played with fancy stick handling that sometimes can make you look like a fool.
So here is the magic bullet or idea that will eliminate that forever from your game:
1. Never look at the puck directly because when you look at the puck and the speed that the opposing player is stick handling it can somewhat hypnotize you into following the movements and once the opposing player changes any of the speed of movements and direction, you will be caught and tricked.
2. You should look at the opposing players hips because the hips is where the center of gravity is located and the center of gravity has a slow movement in all directions. The next you watch a hockey player just notice and pay attention to the hips and you'll know exactly in what direction he will be going. But if you look at the puck then you won't have a clue in which direction the player is going because the stickhandling of the puck can make a fool of you really fast.
Note: It's important to look directly at the hip level. There is an assumption that hockey players should watch the shoulder and chest level but this is totally wrong because even the the shoulder and chest can trick you in thinking that the opposing player will make you think he is going in a certain direction or maybe fake you out and then go in another direction.
Review:
If you want to know exactly where and when the opposing player will be going then you just have to focus on his hip area and that will allow you to know at all times!
