Hockey - Speed Skating

The biggest problem that hockey players have is they don't have a nice and smooth stride. Some players will move their feet a hundred miles per hour, however they won't generate the appropriate amounts of speed because they just don't know how to correct this problem.

Another thing that hockey players do that doesn't work is they think that by training hard, getting into great shape and practicing their skating for hundreds of hours, that it will make their skating smoother and faster.

It doesn't work that way because you don't have the proper body mechanics ligned up, so it doesn't matter what you do or how hard you train because you will never get or achieve peak performance in skating.

Here are the steps hockey players should take to improve their stride and speed in skating:
1. Make sure that your arms don't cross your whole body on each stride. For example: If you start your skating stride with your left leg then your right arm shouldn't cross in front of your whole body. The right arm should be parallel or on the same line as the left leg. The same thing should happen when stride out with your right leg, make sure that your left arm is parallel or on the same line as the right leg.
2. Just by changing this arm alignment will allow any hockey player to have a smoother stride.
3. Also it will allow you longer stride to cover more distance on the ice by doing fewer strides.
4. This change will allow you to achieve maximum speed in 3-4 strides guaranteed.

Review:
- Never cross your arms when doing your skating strides.
- Make sure that each arm goes parallel or in the same line as the skating stride.
