If they don't see the job site they really can't give you a very accurate estimate on the cost of the job or the time it will take to get it done. You will also want to take the time to ask questions of the candidates and you should be thorough. This means that it is best to create a list of questions ahead of time and then ask each candidate the same questions when you meet with them.

You will find that choosing a candidate will be much easier for you when you can easily compare the answers that each of the candidates give you. You will want to make sure that each candidate provides you with a bid and a list of references. It will be up to you to contact the references and ask them about the work that they had done. You should also ask if you can see the work in person. Photos just aren't as good when you can see the work for yourself.
